Obsolescence

Precision Manufactured Solutions

When original components are no longer available, we can reverse engineer and rebuild to exact specifications, ensuring your operations continue with minimal disruption. Our engineering expertise, combined with the wider capabilities of the UKC Group, allows us to deliver tailored solutions quickly and reliably — even for the most challenging requirements.

ELECTRONIC / ELECTRO-MECHANICAL / MECHANICAL
Our customers trust us to help them source obsolete, rare, or hard-to-find components. If they cannot be found in our extensive inventory of parts, or sourced globally, we can provide a Reverse, Repair, Rebuild solution.

Our Strategy

Precision Engineering

Our precision engineering companies, supports the group’s obsolescence projects by manufacturing replacement parts to stringent specifications and tight deadlines.

We have provided replacement machined components in steel, aluminium, copper and plastics for applications in Commercial Aviation, the UK and EU Rail Networks, as well as Formula 1 and motorsport teams.

Supply Chain Support

When an item is not in stock, our team of industry specialists takes charge of sourcing components. They research and cross-reference available data, utilising our vast library, offline databases, commercial databases, and online marketplaces to locate legacy stock and identify approved equivalent parts.

We are able to work with any recognised codification, including commercial part numbers, OEM proprietary references, Aerospace ATA codes, NSNs, and other defence standards.

Build to Print

When remaining samples are deemed BER (Beyond Economic Repair), our team of Electronics Engineers, Precision Engineers, and Machinists manufacture replacement products based on available specifications (Build to Print) or by reverse engineering a sample, whether working or not.

We also have access to a broad network of specialists for additional support when needed.

Our manufacturing and reverse engineering projects have been supplied to sectors such as aerospace (both defence and commercial), defence vehicles and APCs, as well as naval platforms, including submarines.

Electronics projects we’ve handled include multi-layer PCBs, cable assemblies, emergency lighting and switches, connectors, and avionics and radar components.

Assembly, Repair and Overhaul

When a component or assembly is no longer available globally, we focus on overhauling or repairing any viable existing units. Our engineers assess the assembly, determine the cause of failure, create a bill of materials (BOM), and source or manufacture replacement components, ultimately delivering a fully serviceable product to the client.

Supply from Stock

We supply obsolete and legacy components from our UK warehouses, where we store over 100 million components in our purpose-built facility just outside Chelmsford, Essex.

Our inventory includes a wide range of items, from board-level components like semiconductors, transistors, valves, and connectors to complete assemblies. These components are used in both commercial and defence applications, including radars, military vehicles, APCs, naval ships, and aircraft. We stock products from leading OEMs such as Intel, Texas Instruments, Rolls Royce, GEC, Plessey, Marconi, and EEV/E2V.

With 100 million components in stock, we are equipped to Reverse, Repair, and Rebuild ©.
